KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT is the process of capturing, developing, sharing, and effectively using organization knowledge. It refers to a multi-disciplinary approach to achieving organizational objectives by making the best use of knowledge. JTSI recognizes the management of knowledge as a strategic asset that contributes to various organizational objectives such as competitive advantage, innovation etc.,
JTSi’s approach towards Knowledge Management
JTSi has experience in managing knowledge at all three stages of KM related activities: Before, During and After KM related activities.
Push Strategy (AKA Codification Strategy):
- Individuals strive to explicitly encode their knowledge into a shared knowledge repository, such as database, as well as retrieving knowledge they need that other individuals have provided to the repository. This is commonly known as the Codification approach to KM. Codification focuses on collecting and storing codified knowledge in previously designed electronic databases to make it accessible to the organization. Codification can therefore refer to both tacit and explicit knowledge.
Pull Strategy (AKA Personalization Strategy):
- Individuals making knowledge requests of experts associated with a particular subject on an ad hoc basis (pull strategy) In such an instance, expert individual(s) can provide their insights to the particular person or people needing this. This is commonly known as the Personalization approach to KM. The personalization strategy aims at encouraging individuals to share their knowledge directly. Information technology plays a less important role, as it is only supposed to facilitate communication and knowledge sharing among members of an organization.
Cross Project Learning
- PMs will load unique project experiences/lessons learned to the KM data base. JTSI has experience in cataloging and indexing materials by various cross-categories.
Technologies We Have Used For Knowledge Management
- Groupware – As an example, there are still quite a few agencies using Lotus Notes. Notes provides tools for threaded discussions, sharing documents etc.
- Content/Document Management software such as SAP’S ECM, Documentum, IBM Enterprise Content Management, OpenText, Sharepoint etc. We have experience in automating the process of creating web content and/or documents within an organization. We can explicitly model various roles required such as editors, graphic designers, writers, and producers along with the various tasks in the process and validation criteria for moving from one step to another. All this information can be used to automate and control the process.
- Enterprise Portals – We can aggregate information across the entire organization or for groups within the organization such as project teams etc. We have experience in SAP Netweaver, WebSphere etc.
- E-Learning – We can create customized training and education. This can include lesson plans, monitoring progress against learning goals, online classes, etc. eLearning technology enables organizations to significantly reduce the cost of training and educating their members. JTSI has experience in working with various LMS (Learning Management Software) such as SumTotal, SAP’s SuccessFactors, Oracle TALEO etc.
